Tugtupite Properties
A very rare mineral usually red or deep pink in colour, but is also found as white to pale pink, bluish white and greenish white. It is a translucent stone. It glows, or fluoresces, under ultra violet light (also known as black light) and shows tenebrescence, where the colour deepens with exposure to the sun. There are often other minerals included or associated with tugtupite, the black/dark green inclusions are usually aegirine, the white albeit or is analcime.
Common source; the only known sources are in Greenland and Russia. Sometimes tugtupite is known as reindeer stone.
